Changes in Federation Rules 3/27/2011 from today’s Federation meeting attended by Jorie and Mary Helen

Procedural – to take effect this state show

1.       Allow 2 people in the chute to assist with children 19 and under.

2.       Clapping from the chute will no longer be forbidden. (no hitting horse though)

3.       Thursday will be allowed as a move-in day. (no practice arenas will be open)

4.       Remove or extend the overhead bar in the holding pen and remove or add enough dirt to cover the bottom rail.

5.       Begin pleasure at 8AM not 7AM

6.       Set the work schedule in time increments from beginning to end. (Set an ending time at night)

7.       If it is determined that each Association will be in the same position in regard to the drag in each event, the drag will be adjusted so that the same association is not first and the same association is not last, etc.

A change in wording was made to “Rules for Entering State Horse Show” #6 and #7. New wording is:

                6. A horse may be ridden in only one age group for each event, with the exception of immediate family members or people living in the same household who may ride the same horse in different age groups in the same event.

                7. Grandparents living in or out of the same household are considered immediate family.

Discussion was that people living together should be allowed to share a horse. Also that any grandchildren (step, natural, adopted whatever) should be able to ride the grandparent’s horse regardless of whether or not they live with them. These changes were unanimous.

Changes for the 2011-2012 Show Year

1.       Add a 19 & Under Halter class.

2.       Add Showmanship 19 & under

3.       Add Showmanship 20 & over

The budget that was approved increases the Association dues to $725 and the entry fees to $6 per class. This is an effort to ensure that we break even. The budget was passed unanimously also.

My understanding is that there will be pleasure barn areas by association and running barn areas by association so you may choose whether you want to stall with South Ogeechee Pleasure or South Ogeechee Running regardless of what classes you show in. Example was the lady next to me who shows pleasure only but whose child is a runner. The family will be stalled together. I think the new barn and part of the multipurpose building will be the pleasure barns.
